While not as impressive as Watts' stats, and that of about 2 million other sites, my views have nonetheless continued to grow. Thanks for visiting. I can only hope that the information I provide is in some small way helpful and interesting. That stretch around zero represents the period where I had a blog with a few random posts, but didn't make any special effort to update it, and preceded the period of time when I started the statistical analyses.
I’ve been bopping around for Christmas, and will do so again on Friday for New Years. Thus, I am taking a “holiday” from much time on the blog. But I wanted to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. (Since I celebrate Christmas, I’m not much one for politically correct “holiday” generics, but also understanding that there are other celebrations occurring, I certainly do wish everyone cheer and good will in all that you are doing and celebrating).
My blog, as you can see, is a meager one. As I follow a few other blogs, it is apparent that others’ material has caught on to a wider audience than this one, and that is fine. I am not in this to compete against anyone, just to present items I see as interesting. based on the growth I’ve seen, I can’t complain. My viewership continues to grow by the month, and so I feel encouraged that what I am doing has some small value and is interesting to enough people that I will continue to present the information I take a look at.
I chuckle when I see Watts talk about how many hundreds of thousands of hits he sees, and then I look at my stats and get all pumped up when I get 500 hits in a day. The good thing about low expectations is that you are seldom real disappointed.
I also congratulate Jeff at The Air Vent for having started a very interesting blog with some great analysis. His site has deservedly taken off fairly quickly, has been featured on Watts a couple times, and has gained a lot of interest.
There are many other blogs and bloggers I respect and appreciate. The main ones I have taken an interest in are in my blogroll. Good job, guys, and keep up the good work.
This has been a learning experience for me. I have a stats focus, but also really enjoy learning all aspects of this topic. It is apparent to me that many commenters and other bloggers are smarter than I am and more knowledgeable on many of these topics. I can only hope to offer a bit different view, and try to make it somewhat interesting.
In the meantime, enjoy the season, enjoy the snow (for us northerners) and I’ll see you next year bestowing more charts and graphs (kind of like “arts and crafts” except for nerds…)
